3. Employer prepares an offer of employment: The employer prepares a detailed offer of employment letter that includes information about the job, salary, benefits, and conditions of employment.
4. Employer submits the offer of employment through the Employer Portal: The employer submits the offer of employment to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) through the Employer Portal.
5. Gather required documents: Collect all the necessary documents for your work visa application, which may include your passport, job offer letter, LMIA (if applicable), educational certificates, language test results, and other supporting documents.
6. Complete the work permit application: Fill out the work permit application form, either online or on paper, providing accurate and up-to-date information.
7. Pay the application fees: Pay the required processing fees for your work permit application. The fees can vary depending on the type of work permit and other factors.
8. Submit the application: Submit your completed application, along with the supporting documents and payment receipt, either online or through a visa application center (VAC) in your country.
9. Provide biometrics and undergo a medical examination: If required, schedule an appointment to provide your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) at a designated location. You may also need to undergo a medical examination to meet the health requirements.
10. Wait for a decision: After submitting your application, wait for the processing of your work visa. The processing time can vary based on factors such as the type of work permit and the volume of applications.
11. Receive a decision: Once a decision has been made on your work permit application, you will be notified by mail or through your online account.
12. Obtain the work permit and travel to Canada: If your application is approved, you will receive a letter of introduction that allows you to travel to Canada. Upon arrival, present the letter to the border officer who will issue your work permit.

A negative LMIA is given when it thinks that there are Canadian workers who can do the job and that hiring a foreign worker will hurt Canadian workers.
